Carlos Gomez

Carlos loves the challenge of this yoga because once you’re in the room, there's no turning back. Before teaching yoga, Carlos was a sommelier, an Oceanographer and an avid surfer in his hometown, Acapulco.

In 2011, Carlos began teaching free yoga classes and workshops in low-income areas of San Antonio. These experiences led Carlos to found Yoga Day (, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to make yoga available to underserved sectors of the population. Carlos shares his passion for Yoga of all different traditions as a teacher at The Union and as the Director of Yoga Day.

Carlos recommends that everyone read Confessions of an Economic Hitman by John Perkins, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery and listen to “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley.

Our world-traveling Carlos speaks three languages, is committed to spreading the benefits of yoga to everyone and aspires to open a yoga studio by the ocean. In the meantime, he loves spending time with the The Union family and is a wonderful asset to our community.

"Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured." ~ BKS Iyengar.
