I was born and raised in San Antonio and have an 8-year-old daughter who keeps me on my toes every day. I have worked as a financial analyst at Wells Fargo for 15 years and enjoy the days I can relieve stress by coming to yoga or starting my day with a cross fit class.What brought you to the yoga practice?
A coworker who I used to run with kept telling me about yoga and how much she enjoyed it. I had been to different styled yoga classes before and honestly was not convinced I would like it; but one day I finally decided to check it out and I was hooked! I have been practicing now for almost 6 years and am grateful to her for introducing this yoga to me.How often do you take class?
My goal is to practice at least three to four days per week and also get in two cross fit classes which I have recently come to enjoy.What specific physical issues, if any, did you have before taking you first class?
I really did not have any physical issues prior to taking class, other than feeling limited on my flexibility from years of running.What are the greatest benefits of your practice?
I think the greatest benefit I have seen over the years is reduced stress and my ability to let the little things in life not bother me as much. I definitely notice the difference if I miss yoga for a few days. I also have allergies and when I keep up my yoga practice consistently I do not have to take any of my prescribed medications.How has this practice changed your health and life? Any emotional or other benefits?
I believe this yoga has been a positive thing for me because I have been able to maintain a healthy weight without all the running, biking and other types of activities I used to do that were starting to wear down my joints. I really do feel a difference in how my body processes food and how energized I feel on a daily basis and overall my body does function a lot more efficiently than before.What is your favorite part of the yoga?
I love that even though the postures are the same each class there are so many different factors daily that influence how the class will go. Over the years I have learned to accept that sometimes I just may not have a good day but I try my best with where I’m at that day in yoga. I also truly enjoy all the great people and instructors within the community that make the biggest difference and keep me coming back.
