I am originally from Virginia. I came to San Antonio to complete my residency training in Psychiatry with the Air Force. I’ve been practicing Bikram yoga for just over 2 years.What brought you to the yoga practice?
My meditation teacher had recommended it. I was having some issues with depression, probably stemming from adjusting to residency and being so far from my support network. My meditation teacher recommended trying Bikram yoga.How often do you practice?
3-5 times per week.What specific physical issues, if any, did you have before taking your first class?
Fortunately none. However, since practicing Bikram yoga, my body has dramatically realigned. I didn’t realize the problems I had with my posture until I was watching myself in the mirror, every class.What are the greatest benefits of your practice?
The sense of community at Bikram yoga. Bikram yoga has helped me to feel at home here in San Antonio.How has this practice changed your health and life? Any emotional or other benefits?
As above, my posture has definitely improved. It’s been really cool to watch. And, this practice has had very tangible benefits on my mood. Also, it has improved my meditation practice.What is your favorite part of the yoga?
All of it! I love coming to Bikram yoga! I try to come as often as I can. I talk about it a lot and recommend it to pretty much everyone.
